Dear team,

Would you elaborate what Snap back behavior is? I had some search on google and find a few information. It mentioned that it is about bipolar specification and it will exceed the threshold before move to normal foldback current protection as behavior, but not sure what is it as current protection.

And, after snap back, will TPS65381A-Q1 behave as foldback or brick-wall current limit?

And what will happen when IVDD6 overcurrent situation. there is a parameter named IVDD6_limit but table5-3 shows no impact on device behavior.

Hi Yuto-san,

Sorry for the delay. "Snap back" might be a bit of a misnomer in this case, I'll take this as feedback on the datasheet, maybe a different term would be clearer. It is very common behavior for any current limit that for short-circuit transient, current will exceed defined limit for short period of time (current limit reaction time) but come to defined value after that.

Thanks for your comments. Would you please give me the comments on IVDD6 current limit as well. Below is the comments from Jari internally.

IVDD6 is Buck-Boost which I think limits current more on fold-back basis. Meaning when operating at over-current region VOUT decreases gradually if more current is drawn. But this would need confirmed from design as well.

I investigated this internally a bit further. iVDD6 does exhibit a foldback behavior but it not as pronounced as what your picture shows.
