TPS65320D-Q1: Question about EN-Vin absolute maximum rating is 1V

Part Number: TPS65320D-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,team

I am considering using the TPS65320D and have a question about EN.

The absolute maximum rating of EN-Vin is 1V.

Is there a possibility of damage if a voltage greater than 1V is applied for even a moment?
Even if the input voltage is a maximum of 36V and a minimum of 3.6V, will a 1V difference in voltage cause damage?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

  • Hi Kawasaki-san,

I believe the intent of this maximum rating is that the EN source should be from the same rail as the VIN source.
So the difference between (EN - VIN) should be ≤ 1V.
May I know why you would be applying a different voltage to EN that is not VIN?

Anything beyond 1 V is not recommended and there is a possibility of damaging the device, as with all Absolute Maximum Ratings.
I cannot say if there is certainty that it will or will not occur, but this is why it is not recommended.

    Best Regards,
    Sarah

  • Hi Sarah,

    Thank you for your answer.
    I understand.

I was thinking of a way to control EN from an external source that is not Vin.
    I will reconsider.
