Hi,

I'm trying to shrink down the design for the TPS6594-Q1 but after looking at the datasheet regarding the output capacitance, I was wondering if the capacitance "per phase" is referring to one voltage or for each buck used in a multiphase? For instance if Buck1, Buck 2, Buck3 and Buck4 are used in a multiphase configuration is it 22uF per buck or is it 22uF for all 4 combined?

Hello Amandus,

In a multiphase configuration, the capacitance per phase specification is referring to the capacitance needed for each buck converter used in a multiphase configuration. So, each buck would require around 22uF of capacitance.

OK, thank you for the response.

For the total capacitance i assume it is also per buck then? so between 100 and 1000 uF per buck? So max total capacitance would be 4000 uF in a 4 multiphase configuration?

Yes, the "output capacitance, total, per phase" specification also refers to the capacitance for each buck in a multiphase configuration. So, 4000uF would be correct as the maximum total capacitance for a 4-phase configuration.
