LP38512-ADJ: Not getting the desired ouputput

Part Number: LP38512-ADJ

Tool/software:

Hi,

I have an input supply of 5V and I am using two LP38512MR-ADJ/NOPB, in series to generate 3.3V and 1.1V

For the first LP38512MR(U11) , I am getting an output of 4.8V instead of a 3.3V. Is it a stability issue or we can not use two LP38512MR in series.

Thanks,

Jagbir

  • Hi Jagbir,

    You can definitely use two LP38512MR in series.

    I have a few questions for you which will help me debug the issue you are facing:

    1. Is this issue observed in simulation or post board assembly in hardware testing?
    2. Could you please share a picture showing your test setup and probing location? A scopeshot showing VIN, VOUT and IOUT will help
    3. What is the load current?

    Post board assembly in hardware testing

    1. Could you please share a picture showing your test setup and probing location? A scopeshot showing VIN, VOUT and IOUT will help

    Yellow= Iout, Green =Vin, Orange=Vout

    1. What is the load current?

    Less than 1A.

  • As per the orange trace (VOUT at 2V/div), you seem to be getting 3.3V at the output. Could you show me where you are seeing 4.8V on the output or if I am reading something incorrectly from the scopeshot above?
