Hello,

We are looking for a design with a single integrated HOT SWAP + ORING solution for the following applications:

1) 12V common redundant power supply

2) 48V power supplies

Recently, I have come across TPS2474X product family without internal FETs.

Can you please recommend few similar parts for the same (with and without internal FETs) for the above said applications.

Hello Pratik,

TPS2474 can do the job for sure.

You can also check TPS25985 and TPS25990 which has internal FET. You can use parallel operation for 1kW output.

Thank you Amrit for the prompt reply.

I was going through the datasheet of TPS259XX devices, and these primarily seem to be e-Fuses.
As rightly pointed out, these e-Fuses include integrated PASS FETs within.

But the question is: For ORing + Hot-Swap control, whether there is need for additional ORing controller (with/ without integrated Blocking FETs)?

Or the TPS259XX devices are capable of both ORing + Hot-Swap control for above stated application?

Please clarify.

Hello Pratik,

You need reverse voltage and reverse current blocking for ORing which needs back-to-back FET configuration.

TPS259XX does have swap control.

You can use TPS2474 both ORing + Hot-Swap control.

You can use the design calculator for TPS2474 for MOSFET selection and other design parameters.
