UCD90120: DEVICE_ID is unreadable, cannot update config from Fusion

Part Number: UCD90120

Tool/software:

I have a UCD90120, but when I try to connect it to Fusion, it cannot detect the device. Using the UCD9xxx GUI, I can see that there is a device on the bus at 0x71, which is correct, but the DEVICE_ID register does not read UCD90120 as expected.

  • Hi, Adrianna,

Device comes out of factory should have correct DEVICE_ID. Please contact the sale rep where you purchased the device for support.

    Regards

    Anne

  • Sorry but this response is unhelpful. Is there really no way to recover the chip? Are you able to confirm that the part is legitimate?

  • Adrianna,

Our devices come out of factory should have valid DEVICE_ID. Try the below when try to read DEVICE_ID:

    1. Enable PEC (Package Error Checking) on PMBus Host.

    2. Make sure device is the only one on the bus to eliminate communication interfered by others.

    3.  Try sending Read_Block command, to address 11d (0x0B), register code = 0xEC to see if you can communicate with device through address 11d.
