TPS25750: Source ONLY mode desired. Is this possible? What PD levels are supported if possible?

Hello, we are desiring to use the TPS25750 or 751 in a SOURCE ONLY mode application. The configuration tool does not give this option. Is there a register that can be written to force the chip to only function as a PD source?

What PD levels are supported if this can be done?

Hi Mehdi,

Question one in the configuration tool provides a 5-V Source only configuration.

If you want higher voltage "Source-Only", you can manually change some of the settings in Advanced Config

Port Config Register
- Set TypeC State Machine to Source Only
Port Control Register
- Ensure Initiate Swap to Sink and Process Swap to Sink are not selected.
Transmit Sink Capabilities
- Num PDOs = 0

It can support all SPR contracts (<= 100W)

We only support Sourcing higher voltages with the compatible BQ devices listed in the GUI at this time. We are looking into opening it up in the future, but do not have the capability just yet.

I see the setting options you identified in the Advanced Config GUI for the 25751.

What about the 25750? What do we do if we want to use that part due to availability? Is the 25750 usable as 100W source only?

The TPS25750 is not recommended for any new designs at this time, and unfortunately the GUI does not support his configuration.

If you are not worried about the latest compliance, you may want to also look at the TPS65987DK
