TPS7H1101A-SP: Setting over-current resistor given CSR variation

Part Number: TPS7H1101A-SP

Tool/software:

Hi,

Seemingly the CSR can vary from 45000 A/A to 65000 A/A on a given device across the full operating temperature range. Does this mean that if I design my programmable current limit assuming a CSR of 45000 A/A, my device could experience a load current 44% higher that the designed current limit when the device temperature is at the high end of its operating range?

Thanks!

  • Hi Ryan,

At high temp (125C), the max CSR value is actually somewhat lower than it is for room temp or cold temp. Besides that, you're correct in stating that the range of this parameter will influence the possible range of the current limit - being more noticeable in absolute terms when the expected load current is on the larger end.

The Electrical characteristics table min/max values are generally more conservative values than the application may actually see since they account for multiple sources of variation (operating condition, part-to-part variation, etc) as well as some statistical buffering.

    Thanks,

    Sarah
