BQ25886: Low charging current

Hello,

I used BQ25886 at a project. When I plug-in USB cable to my board charge current only %20 of ICHG set value, if start to current consumption from SYS to load resistor at least for 1 second, charging current increase to ICHG set value. If stop the current consumption from SYS, charge current continue no problem. If USB cable re-plug and than charge current again %20 of ICHG set value. Why IC can not supply %100 ICHG set value.

Hi,

Could you please provide the following?

The charger operating conditions such as VBUS (voltage at VBUS pin), IVBUS, VBAT (voltage at BAT pin), IBAT, VSYS, ISYS.
All the register readings. The register readings help to understand the charge operating status and fault conditions if any.

For 2. This device is BQ25886 is there any register to read ? I know this device as a standalone, no I2C com.

The device is a standalone charger and has no I2C communication.

Input current 330 mA
Bat. Voltage 7.25 V
Bat. Charge current 180 mA

After current consumption from SYS
SYS current 100 mA
SYS voltage 7.51 V
Input voltage 4.65 V
Input current 1750 mA
Bat. Voltage 7.46 V
Bat. Charge current 860 mA

After current consumption from SYS reduced
SYS current 7 mA
SYS voltage 7.56 V
Input voltage 4.66 V
Input current 1720 mA
Bat. Voltage 7.51 V
Bat. Charge current 920 mA

Hello Ning,

I found the problem, capacitor of BAT pin was wrong installed. Capacitor should be at least 10uF but installed capacitor was 10nF. When I changed this capacitor everything is good. Thank you for your interest.
