BQ25790: DIS_ACDRV is automatically asserted when USB cable plug-out

Hi team,

Config: TPS25751 as PD controller + BQ25790 as charge converter

Customer sometimes has BQ25790 not charge from USB input when battery is equipped by asserting DIS_ACDRV=1.

However, once USB cable is plugged out, DIS_ACDRV is asserted to 0.

From the datasheet, there are no reset command other than POR. Is the behavior expected?

I see the same behavior. If they want to prevent charging, they can disable charge via EN_CHG.

HI Jared,

Customer have reason why they don't want to use EN_CHG. could you check whether triggering reset by USB unplugged is expected or not?

Where can I find that information on the datasheet? Also, is there anything trigger to be reset when USB is unplugged?

Hi Hayashi,

This is not described in the datasheet explicitly; however, it is the expected behavior. I am not aware of any other unplug triggers; however, at plug in there are multiple registers set, see the datasheet section "8.3.5 Device Power Up from Input Source."
