LMG3410R070: QUESTION ABOUT LMG3410R070

Part Number: LMG3410R070
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG3410R050,

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Here is SHENZHEN MM FAE Chris, i have a question about 32 PIN FLAUT.

I find in datasheet FLAUT PIN voltage range is -0.3V-5V. but for current range i can not find in datasheet. if a 2mA current enters the PIN FLAUT, is it safe?

  • Hello,

The FAULT pin is a digital output pin, meaning no signal or current should enter this pin.

Can explain further why you are expecting current to enter this pin?

    Thanks,

    Zach

  • Hi Zachary,

I saw that our datasheet uses digital isolation chips, but the customer uses optocoupler isolation. There are other isolation IC for PWM signals. The schematic diagram is as follows:

If the fault PIN is pulled low and the circuit is turned on, current will flow into the fault pin.

Is this isolation solution not supported to LMG3410R070 and LMG3410R050?

  • Hello,

The FAULT pin for LMG3410R070 and R050 acts as a push-pull circuit rather than open drain, here is the pin description for this part:

I do not see any technical issues with this solution, however I am still verifying if the FAULT pin can accept 2mA of current.

At first I was thinking on an approach like this:

However this situation would drain lots of current and likely be inefficient. I am still working on verifying your solution.

Can you send me a part number for the optocoupler used? This would be very helpful for me.

I will be sure to verify this answer first thing tomorrow.

    Thank you,

    Zach

  • Hi Zach,

Thanks for your support, one more question is about 24pin. we can see it is a source Pin in pin function. But in typical application the 24pin become into GND pin. my question is that is any different between 24pin and other source Pin?

    Chris

  • Hello,

First to answer question about optocoupler:

The schematic you sent to me will work with the FAULT pin, there will be no issue with 2mA current into this pin. However, please note that the recommended LDO5V load current is 5mA, so customer MUST be sure that load current from this circuit will not exceed this value.

    For GND question:

Pin 24 is the same as source, there is no difference. The Altium schematic image is a bit confusing but pin 24 is the same as source. If the customer has any questions about connecting digital ground and power ground please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Zach
