LMG3410R070: About LMG3410R070 switching speed control

Part Number: LMG3410R070

Dear TI partners,

According to following data from LMG3410R070 datasheet, it seems the RDRV pin can’t control turn-off(switching off) speed.

Am I right?

Do we have any alternative solution?

Thank you!

  • Hello Lawrence,

The turn-off speed of LMG3410R070 is fixed internally inside the driver. It will turn off at the max. speed to help reduce switching loss. However, the voltage increase that you will see from drain to source may vary. This is because the voltage rise speed is determined by the load current and Coss. The rise time is actually the Coss charging time. Now there is not a solution for you to change the speed to turn off the channel. Hope it helps.

    Thanks and regards,
    Lixing
  • Of course, assume channel turn-off speed >> Coss charging speed, the Vds rise speed during turn-off transition is dominated by Qoss and corresponding load current.
But, it also means the dv/dt will increase with higher load current.
Furthermore, it might cause EMI, parasitic ringing and voltage spike worse too. (In some non-ideal design)
Thus, I hope turn-off speed controllable.
Thanks for your response to this matter.
