Are you able to tell which power state the devices are in after they stop communicating? For example, are they in active, sleep or shutdown mode?

The devices remain in active mode,but I've noticed that the system is now recovering on its own after some time. The data comes back without microcontroller reset.

We have observed a UART overrun error (ORE), which seems to be causing the data to read as zero. Additionally, we've noticed that whenever we access the UART_SR register, the error is automatically cleared.
