TPS65916: PCB Placement to BGA and Power Section

Part Number: TPS65916
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS6593-Q1, TPS6594-Q1, AM5716

Tool/software:

Hi Ti Forum,

I have a unique design, and I am inquiring on where I should place a TPS65916 on a moderate dense pcb.

The pcb has three main sections, power on right side, isolated analog top side, and center - left region all digital.

I have a few options but here are two.

1. Place smps within the power section of a pcb, located on right side of the pcb. This adds distance between the smps and BGA DSP.

or

2. Place smps within a localized power section of the pcb, located on the left side of the pcb. This shortens the distance between the smps and BGA DSP, however it is now located in the digital section.

My thought is that having shorter distance is preferable, as long as sufficient room is around the smps to other digital circuitry to maintain signal integrity.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,

David
