TPS7A96: how to decide the Rtop and Rbottom to enable the device

Part Number: TPS7A96

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Could you tell the recommended Rtop at the below condition to turn the device when the Vin becomes 3.0V?

Von: 3.0V

Rbottom: 10k

Noriyuki Takahashi

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your question.

The FB_PG pin is used to adjust the current limit for the TPS7A96 device.

Please see page 30 in the datasheet for additional information:

What would the customer like to set the current limit of the device to?

How is the customer intending on using the FB_PG pin?

Please let me know when you have a moment.

    Thank you,

    Hannah

  • Hannah,

Their questions is about equation 1 and 2 in the datasheet and undersntad how to decide the Rtop at the below condition to turn the device when the Vin becomes 3.0V. Does this make sense? Could you give the recommended value with the caluculation process?

    Von: 3.0V

    Rbottom: 10k

  • Hello Noriyuki,

Thank you for the further explanation. This makes sense to me now. Assuming a VEN,HI voltage of 1.22V, stated in the datasheet, then using equation 1:

Rtop < (10k) x ((3/1.22)-1), Rtop < 14.6k, which means they should choose an Rtop value that is less than or equal to 14.6k ohm.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Hannah
