TPS65381A-Q1: Queries about EEPROM CRC check at startup and run time

Part Number: TPS65381A-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello, we are using TI psu chip of TPS65381A on our production BMS. By reading the datasheet, I have some queries about the EEPROM CRC protection on it. Could you help me to understand? Thanks in advance.

  • I am not sure what’s stored in the EEPROM area, as we haven’t touched this area on the chip.
  • As described in the datasheet at section 5.4.17 Device Configuration Register Protection: a CRC check can help to protect safety SPI-mapped registers and we are implementing this feature. What’s your suggestion about EEPROM CRC check? Do you suggest to implement it along with the SPI-mapped Configuration registers CRC check, at startup and run time?
  • Is EEPROM CRC check covered by ABIST? See section 5.4.6: Analog Built-In Self-Test (ABIST).

Your suggestion will help us with the implementation for functional safety purpose. Thanks.

Note: datasheet we are looking at is: TPS65381A-Q1 Multirail Power Supply for Microcontrollers in Safety-Relevant Applications, SLVSDJ1A –JULY 2016–REVISED MAY 2017.
