Changing to BQ27510 Internal Temperature Sensor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27510-G2

We have been using the BQ27510-G2 with an external thermistor and would like to change to using the chip's internal sensor.  De I have to generate a new Golden Image File from scratch, or is there a way to "tweak" it to change the fuel-gauge's mode?

  • You do not need to go through bqEASY again or generate a new golden file from scratch.  To change configuration settings like this, you only need to load the old golden DFI, change the desired parameters (either Import/Write All an updated GG file or else manually change in EVSW), and then export a new DFI and rename it.

There is currently no handy screen for writing/reading DFI files, so skip around in bqEASY to accomplish this.  Write a DFI file using step 1B.  Read a DFI file by using step 3F.  It will automatically save it to the EVSW folder with a default filename.

    In Windows XP, look here:

    C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\bq Evaluation Software\Plugins\Projects

In Windows 7, it will be in the same location as XP if you ran the software as an Administrator or else it might get redirected to here:

    C:\Users\myUserName\AppData\Local\Virtual Store\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\bq Evaluation Software\Plugins\Projects

Side note: If using bqEASY under Windows 7, you should run the EVSW installer as an Admin and then for the actual installed executable right-click, select Properties, and change to always run it as an Admin to ensure it can write to its target directory without getting redirected.
