TPS25730EVM: Adopter for PC connetcion

Part Number: TPS25730EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25730, TPS25751

Tool/software:

I want to connect PC and TPS25730EVM to enable I2C communication. I want to get information about the PD-only adapter when it connects to the PD controller via Type-C.

■ Question
① What hardware is required between the PC and the PD controller?
(If there is a recommendation, please write it along with it.)

② Do you need a dedicated application on the PC side?

  • Hi Taku,

The TPS25730 has exposed I2C pins that can be interfaced with.

There is no recommended hardware to read the I2C, if you just need it for debug, any I2C host/controller tool should be fine. In a production solution, and EC/MCU may work.

This depends on the tool used. For example, for quick debug we use the TotalPhase Aardvark, which requires the "Control Center" FW.

The I2C registers exposed on the TPS25730 are limited to what is available in the TRM. The part is fairly simple, and may not report the information you are looking for. If you do require a more complex part, I would recommend looking at the TPS25751.

    Thanks and Regards,
