TPS53681: Configuration file(.XML) generation for 4+2 phases

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53681

Tool/software:

Hi All,

I have designed tps53681 in 4+2 configuration, how do I generate a config file for 4+2 phases.

I am not finding an easy way to disable the 2 phases out of 6 phases in Loop A on Fusion GUI.

Your timely reply is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Darshan

  • Hi Darshan,

For this device the phase configuration is pin-strapped based on which PWM gets 3v3 to set the config, below is from the datasheet. Additionally, if you have 6 phases enabled in hardware you are able to disable some of them in GUI by changing MFR_Specfic_20 in the all config tab.

From the TRM on GUI control of phase config -

Note that the maximum number of available phases for each channel are configured in hardware. The MFR_SPECIFIC_20 command can be used to further limit the maximum number of available phases via the PMBus interface. When the TPS53681 is initially powered on, and power conversion has not been enabled for either channel, MFR_SPECIFIC_20 will read 00h. Once either channel has been enabled, it will read whichever is lower, the maximum number of available phases in hardware, or the last programmed value of MFR_SPECIFIC_20.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
