We have also completed the first level of RE CE testing of this AM6254 based EVT Board [ACM Device]. We got the negative result of these RE and CE tests. And as per report analysis we suspect that below parts can be the reason for this test failure.

    Thanks for reaching out! Please see the comments below may related to transient response and EMI.

    1. Please try to mount more decoupling capacitors on the primary side.



    2. Please try to mount more Y-cap between primary GND and secondary GND.



    3. Is the primary SW FET AM3400N? It is recommended to use a FET with lower on-resistance (100 – 250mOhm) for 13W application. With high on-resistance FET, you could further increase gate resistance to 50 -100 Ohm.

    Can you please check the POE RJ45 connector and rectifier section, this section also can be impact the CE failure? Please review and Provide suggestion for this section like what changes we can make in this section?

  • Hi Hemal,

    Thanks for your reply! The RJ45 port is with magnet and Bob-smith termination integrated. The common mode choke (J2 integrated and FL2) will make difference with CE test. You can increase the impedance of FL2 for better CM results with a cost of larger size normally. 

    I would recommend you to address the comments about FET and caps first which has more selections than common mode choke.
