TPS65219: Inquiry Regarding TPS6521903 and USB0 Configuration

Part Number: TPS65219

Tool/software:

Dear Specialists,

1. In our system, we add an external MCU to start up the TPS6521903, so we want to disable FSD and configure the EN/PB function. Will the settings be refreshed if we turn the system on again?

2. In our system, USB0 will operate only in DFU or UFP mode. Will there be an issue if we connect USB0_VBUS directly to the system 5V?

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Woody

  • Dear Specialists,

I apologize for the correction regarding the second point; it should be DFU and DFP mode.

    Best regards,

    Woody

  • Hi Woody.

The TPS6521903 has the EN/PB/VSENSE pin configured as "push-button" with FSD enabled by default. This configuration prevent customers from writing to the NVM/registers before the power-up sequence is executed.

Why do you want to disable FSD? What signal would you like to use to trigger a power-up sequence in the PMIC?

The only way to disable the FSD on TPS6521903 is to wait until the PMIC finishes the power-up sequence (Active state), change the "PU_ON_FSD" register field and write 0x0A to address 0x34. This last command saves the new register setting into the NVM memory.

    Thanks,

    Brenda
