BQ76952: External Active Cell Balancing.

Hello,

I am designing a BMS system for 12-15 Cell Battery based on BQ76952 and have few queries related to it:

1. Does BQ76952 support External Active Cell Balancing? If so, does TI have any solution or companion chip which can be interfaced with BQ76952 to achieve Active cell balancing.

2. If TI does not have an interface IC to support Active Cell balancing can BQ76952 be interfaced with analog device LTC3300-1?

3. Does BQ76952 offer accurate Current and Voltage monitoring or do we need to interface dedicated Monitoring IC, such as BQ78350?

4. Does TI Offer any solution for controlling charging current via Foldback technique?

Hi Naveed,

The BQ76952 only supports passive balancing. You may be interested in this design guide for active cell balancing: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/tidubz7/tidubz7.pdf

The BQ76952 does offer accurate current and voltage measurements.

I recommend opening a new thread with the chargers team for information on charging solutions.
