TPS2553: value of Rfault(Ω) when I unused auto-retry functionnal

Part Number: TPS2553

Tool/software:

Hi all,

Without auto-retry functional, what is the Rfault value? 10kΩ?100kΩ?

Typical application says Rfault is 100kΩ, but 7.5 Electrical Characteristics says 10 kΩ. Is 10 kΩ recommended since auto-retry is not used?

Best Regards,

Ryusuke

  • Ryusuke,

The \FAULT signal is an open drain output, so the value of the resistor can be changed to match the system needs.  It was characterized with a 10K resistor for the tests that are listed in the specification table, but this is not a requirement for your system.

Table 7.3 specifies the maximum continuous sink current of the /FAULT pin to be 10mA.  As long as the voltage is less than 6.5V and the current drawn through the resistor is less than 10mA, any value of resistor can be used.

The Auto Retry setup uses a 100K and 100nF capacitor to meet the required time constant to ensure proper operation to meet the deglitch timing of the system.

    Regards,

    Chuck
