BQ78350-R1: Reset OCD detection

Part Number: BQ78350-R1

Tool/software:

Hello,

we have a problem to reset a OCD (Overcurrent Discharge) d etection because it only will be recovered, when a charging current is detected.  We use the firware verion R2. In our application there must be the possibility to reset the error by a software command in addition. We only find the reset command 0x0041 to reset the error. The problem with this fully reset is that all measurement data is lost and for example the SOC is not exactly calculated until a full cycle is done.

Is there an other possibilty to reset a detected OCD by software?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards

Stephanie

  • The current doesn't need to be a charging current. The OCD:Recovery Threshold can be set to a discharge current (negative current) as well. See 3.5 in the TRM.

  • Hello Dominik,

many thanks for your response. Setting the OCD:Recovery Threshold can be set to a discharge current (negative current) is no solution for us because the reset of  a OCD (Overcurrent Discharge) detection should be done by charging or by pressing a button.

    Best regards

    Stephanie

  • I'm afraid that there isn't a solution to your problem. The protector can only work within the specification and your requirements don't seem to be compatible with what the protector can do. I may not fully understand your requirement. Please show me the part in the TRM that supports your requirement and then I can check and/or explain.
