TUSB546A-DCI: is this device compatible with common touchscreens? And does this device support Thunderbolt interface monitor?

Part Number: TUSB546A-DCI
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB211A

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer want to use TUSB546A in their main control board as shown in the picture below and use TUSB546A to achieve Type-C port based video/data/power function. including:

1. DP1.2 or DP1.4

2. Data of touch signal based on USB2.0

3. power supply to external touchscreen monitor (5V 3A)

Two questions to check:
1. Is TUSB546A a currently mainstream device? Are there many users? Is it compatible with common touchscreens monitors (portable screens)?
2. can you please confirm whether the Thunderbolt interface monitor based on this design and display screen is compatible?

  • Hi Kevin,

    1. Yes TUSB546A is a mainstream device. We've seen multiple E2E posts for this device from different users.

Is it compatible with common touchscreens monitors (portable screens)?

So long as the touchscreen uses DisplayPort or USB3 data over Type-C to interface, TUSB546A would be compatible. In your case the touchscreen data would be USB2, so you may want to pair this device with a USB2 redriver like the TUSB211A. For passing DisplayPort signals from the DP source to the type-C receptacle TUSB546A would be compatible.

    2. This part does not support thunderbolt. It will only support a USB Type-C interface

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

    Best,

    Shane
