TLV761: Technical query regarding TLV7615

Part Number: TLV761

Tool/software:

Hi

In the datasheet 1uf MLCC at input and 2.2uf MLCC at output is suggested.
Are these values enough to ensure a stable working ?
Should we place 4.5uf MLCC at both sides ?
  • Hello Mohit,

An input capacitor is not required for stability of this LDO. However, an input capacitor with an effective value of 0.47 μF minimum is recommended to counteract the effect of source resistance (especially if source impedance exceeds 0.5Ω) and inductance, which may in some cases cause symptoms of system level instability such as ringing or oscillation, especially in the presence of load transients. A higher value capacitor may be necessary if large, fast rise-time load or line transients are anticipated or if the device is located several inches from the input power source. The 1uF MLCC is recommended per good analog design practice.

Please check the recommended operating conditions table for guidance on the output capacitor. 1uF is the minimum required for stability and 2.2 uF is the recommended value for MLCC. Please account for thermal and DC bias derating when picking this capacitor.

    Best regards

    Ishaan
