BQ25672: TI Charger GUI- not enough USB

Part Number: BQ25672
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ4050, EV2400, BQSTUDIO, BQ25798, USB2ANY

Tool/software:

Hello,
I have a design including chips BQ4050 and BQ25672.
For interfacing the board is used EV2400 (SMB for BQ4050 and I2C for BQ25672.
Tried on device with Windows 11 and Windows 10.

Connecting to BQ4050 is working, after propper configuration of BQ4050 in BqStudio the system is running properly, meaning the BQ25672 provides charging, BQ4050 is gauging.

However, when i wanted to change configuration off BQ25672, using TI Charger GUI on the website (ofcourse with installed recomended Chrome plugin and downloaded TI agent) target cannot be found.

When i look at Options-> Serial Port, I have following error, not enough USB ports detected. Please Check your USB conections...

I have tried downloading the GUI app for offline use, but it is acting the same way.

By this i guess the board is working properly, but there some problem with USB drivers configuration that the GUI cant see the board?
If that is correct, what configuration should be done to work properly?

  • Hi Marian,

When using BQSTUDIO, you need the EV2400 box.  It can only access one IC at a time. If you select Charger when the splash screen comes up then select BQ25798.  BQSTUDIO does not auto find chargers.  Attached is the BQZ for BQ25789 and BQ25672 in case it is not in the BQSTUDIO config folder.https://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/196/2045.Charger_5F00_1_5F00_00_2D00_BQ25798.bqz

When using the online charger GUI, you need the USB2ANY box.

    Regards,

    Jeff
