BQ24610: Termination when Charging a Lead-Acid Battery With a Li-Ion Charger

Hello,

I have been following the application report SLUA992 How to Charge a Lead-Acid Battery With a Li-Ion Charger.

I think I have everything working as expected, my battery charger is in constant current mode for the bulk of the charge then converts to float charge for the remainder of the cycle.

I just wanted to confirm that the circuit is suppose to remain in float charge so there will always be a trickle charge of ~5mA indefinitely.

Meaning the Stat 1 LED will always be on as the charging cycle will never be terminated?

Hi Christian,

Yes so in my case the TTC pin is taken low which means no termination and the charger remains in float charge which is safe for the battery to remain in this state?

Hello Craig,

This question is related to the battery, so I would recommend reaching out to the battery manufacturer for information. From what I've read there should be no issue, since it's a lead-acid battery, but just to be safe I recommend reaching out to the battery manufacturer.
