BQ27Z558: Will the rapidly changing current affect the accuracy

If the current flowing through the sampling resistor continues to jump rapidly and violently, as shown in the figure, can the fuel gauges accurately calculate the amount of electricity consumed? How much error will there be? What is the percentage of error?

    Hello,

    The gauge reports current reading every second. Your current load changes many times within that 1 second time frame. My hypothesis is the gauge will miss a lot of the current that is being applied during this one second sample. We can not guarantee how much error there will be or should be for such an irregular charging behavior. We would recommend you doing testing on your end to see if the gauge can be accurate in this load profile. You can calculate error by checking the passed charge register on the gauge.

    If my device needs to measure the amount of electricity consumed at this time, do you have any suggested solutions? Is there a gauge that can sample at high speed? Or can we use other circuits instead of a gauge?

    Hello,

    We do not offer a gauge that can sample at that fast of a rate and I am unsure of any other workarounds for this.
