TPS23754: ADP1071-2 Ultra-efficient alternative

Part Number: TPS23754
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23734, , TPS23756

Tool/software:

Hi,

I have a customer who is looking for an ultra efficient alternative to the ADP1071-2. They were considering the TPS23734 (application is 10-60Vin, 12Vout, 25W)

1) Would this be the best fit device?

2) Would the PA2649NL be a suitable transformer?

3) Is E2E able to help with potential simulation problems during their design process?

  • Hi Abigail,

    Thanks for your reaching out!

    1) Would this be the best fit device?

The input voltage is too low for TPS23754 operation. You can consider TPS23756 for 12V - 57V adapter at VDD-RTN and 37 - 57V PSE operation. Theoretically TPS23756 can support 10V adapter (9.3V + 0.7V diode drop), but it is recommended to have >=12V adapter.

    2) Would the PA2649NL be a suitable transformer?

I think PA2649NL can only be used for 33 - 57V input voltage. At 10 -33 V it may not be able to regulate the Vout.

    3) Is E2E able to help with potential simulation problems during their design process?

Sorry that we do not have most of our PD in circuit level simulation model. On the converter side, you can use Power Stage Designer (www.ti.com/.../POWERSTAGE-DESIGNER) for calculation/simplified simulation.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Diang,

This is perfect thank you for the information!

They asked if they changed their spec to 37-57V would that work with the PA2649NL ?

  • Hi Abigail,

Yes, you can use PA2649NL for if the input voltage is 37 - 57V.

    Best regards,

    Diang
