LM62440-Q1: Can RBOOT pin be left OPEN? What is a demerit of leaving RBOOT OPEN?

Hello experts,

My customer is considering to leave RBOOT OPEN due to EMC problem.

1. Based on the description in the datasheet below, can we leave RBOOT pin OPEN(=No resistor connected)?

2. Are there any demerits or concerns to leave RBOOT OPEN other than power efficiency deterioration?

Hello Adachi-san,

1. Yes, it can be left open, but keep in mind this will mean slowest rise time which will benefit EMI but impact efficiency. Normally it will be 0ohm as place holder and the resistance can be increased for lower EMI.

2. The efficiency is something that would get impacted. See the pin FMA of the part, table 4-3 for OPEN pins. https://www.ti.com/lit/fs/snva957a/snva957a.pdf
