TPS22810: Regarding the recommended capacitance ratio of CIN to CL of 10:1

Part Number: TPS22810
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM7310

Tool/software:

Dear TI.
The NMOS switch has a body diode, and since there is a possibility that current may flow from VOUT to VIN, it is recommended that the ratio of CIN to CL be 10:1.
However, if VOUT becomes higher than VIN, it may lead to damage to the NMOS, so it may not be a problem if current flows through the body diode.
However, if the body diode becomes overcurrent, it becomes a problem.
I would like you to disclose the characteristics data of the body diode.

  • Hi!

The FET body diode are not designed for continuous current flow. We do not provide the characteristics of the body diode and suggest to design in a way in which this current doesn't flow.

You can share your expected current. Generally few mW power dissipation is fine at the body diode.

If you require a reverse current blocking part, may I suggest LM7310 load switch.

    Best Regards,
    Arush
