BQ76972: Clarification on REG1 and REG2 Outputs for BQ7697202 BMS IC

Please refer to the attached schematic here.

I have a question regarding the BMS IC BQ7697202, particularly related to the REG1 and REG2 outputs.

As per the attached schematic, can the REG1 and REG2 outputs be shorted together?
Which command should I send to configure the output of both REG1 and REG2 to 3.3V?
Is there a need for a pull-up resistor when connecting to the output of REG1 and REG2? If so, what value of pull-up resistor is required?

Hello Mehul,

1. REG1 and REG2 outputs should not be shorted together. Can you explain why you would like to do that?

2. As shown in Section 4 Device Comparison Table of the BQ76972 Datasheet, REG1 is enabled and set to 3.3V by default. Section 12.5.7 REG12 Control Register of the BQ76972 Technical Reference Manual will show you which bits to enable to configure REG2 to 3.3V as well.

3. There shouldn’t be a need for a pull-up resistor when connecting to the output of REG1 and REG2. What are you trying to pull-up with that resistor?
