Hi,

I'm having trouble getting the UART0 to operate.

I know that it is used on the project: Training_CCS5v5.

I think I would like to see how they set up the UART in that code as a comparison to mine.

I don't have all the example projects loaded when installing my Code Composure IDE so I can't find it there.

Can you show me where to find the code or send it to me?

I have messaged you a UART example code that sets the DPWM Event 2 based on an input from the UART.

Can you clarify what the Training_CCS5v5 project is? I am unfamiliar with this UCD project.

Thank you for the code snippet message. That actually solve my issue.

THere is a strange definition in the technical reference manual for the SW_RESET bit

And this is the only mention of it.

The code shows a different story completely. It shows SW_RESET set to zero during init, then set to 1 when done.

Hello BatMan,

The code is based off the UCD3138A. If you look at the UCD3138A Migration Guide on page 102, the bit has been flipped. Apologies for the confusion.

Oh wow.. I bet I'm not the only one that has had this happen.

Its not even listed in the table of contents of the document.

I realize this older part is not being promoted by T.I. but it is a great device. I think the firmware / DSP driven designs can be very time consuming to develop so the designer must blindly rely on previously developed firmware functions and examples. With the evolution of Gan FETs as well as MOSFETs the ability to run at higher speeds is also evolving which makes the control loop timing in firmware even more critical. I hope T.I. continues to develop and support ASIC devices like this one for future applications.

Hello BatMan,

Yes, TI is continuing to invest, promote and support the UCD3138x devices. We recognize the gap in the market between a pure analog controller and a fully embedded DSP-based MCU. The UCD aims to bridge that gap. We will have more developments in the future.
