TPS23525: OV pin deglitching

Part Number: TPS23525

Tool/software:

Hi,

Test the OV pin with an oscilloscope, and there is noise(pulse width less than 1us) present.

1. Can OV event trigger the timer, and only turn off the output when times out.

2.According datasheet,OV pin has 4us RC delay for deglitching,Does that mean pulses with a width less than 4us will not trigger the OV (overvoltage) protection? Is there any requirement for the voltage amplitude of the noise?

Thanks!

  • Hi Lisa,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Turn-off due to OV event is instantaneous and does not wait for the time out.

4 us is the typical deglitch time. If there is any noise, I would suggest to add a capacitor on the OV pin to introduce external delay (say 5us to 10us)

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Rakesh,

    Thanks for the reply!

A 100nF capacitor has been added to the OV pin,but still noise pluse can be captured using oscilloscope.Noise captured pulse width less than 100ns,amplitude less than 1.5V.And the device is operating normally now, is there still a need to further reduce the noise?

Can you confirm that pulses with a width less than 4us will definitely not trigger the OV (overvoltage) ?

  • 100ns is too small to respond. It is safe to consider that the device does not trigger OVP with 100ns even if the amplitude is close to 1.5V.

    Best Regards,

    Rakesh
