BQ27426: When FCC re-simulates, does RM re-simulate as well?

Part Number: BQ27426

Tool/software:

Hi there!

Check the application guide for FuelgaugeIC, which describes the FCC update mechanism.

True FCC update mechanism:

(8). RM, FCC re-simulation update when Reset is reset.
(9). Whenever Qmax is updated RM, FCC re-simulation is updated. The Qmax update typically occurs when the OCV voltage is sufficiently stable (dV / dt < 4 µV/s) or when it has been sitting for more than 5 hours.
(10). Whenever Ra is updated RM, the FCC re-simulates the update. The Ra update occurs at 15 impedance grid points during the discharge process.
(11). RM, the FCC resimulates the update every time Relax Mode is exited (i.e., when charging begins, or when discharging begins).
(12). RM, FCC re-simulation update whenever charge full cut-off occurs.
(13). RM, FCC resimulation update every 5 hours during standby.
(14). RM, FCC resimulation update every time the temperature changes to Delta T 5°C.

Based on the description, my understanding is that when True FCC re-simulates, RM will also re-simulate.

Is this understanding correct?

  • This is correct. It's actually the other way round, RM sims will update FCC but that's just a technicality.

  • Thanks for you reply!

The FCC update mechanism is described in the above question.

Are there any other scenarios or conditions, other than the few mentioned above, that would lead to FCC, RM re-simulation?

  • Please help reply to the above question, thank you very much!

  • Please see your two threads about this gauge on E2E.

  • Hello dominik,

In the other two threads, it mainly describes that temperature and current will cause FCC and RM to re-simulate.

My understanding is: The original problem's FCC update condition is already all the conditions for FCC and RM to re-simulate.

    Is my understanding correct?

  • Yes, this is correct.

  • Hi Dominik,

Are the changes in RM and FCC after meeting the updated conditions of FCC unequal proportions?

  • FCC = InitialCapacity + RM (in most cases).

InitialCapacity = QStart (in most cases)

    QStart = (PresentDOD-DODatEOC) * Qmax.

Therefore FCC usually doesn't change proportionally in the sense of RM/FCC = constant.
