BQ3050: Initial RSOC / RM too low

Part Number: BQ3050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hello,

we experience a problem with the BQ3050.

The problem is the inital RSOC or/and Remaining Capacity.

When we put a virgin device on our tester, the inital RSOC is ~7% and below RM-Alarm limit.

After writing our GG file and calibrating, the absolut values changed (e.g. a smaller battery capacity was written) but RSOC stays at 7%, even after a complete power cycle.

So far so good.

Unfortunetaly we have older reference samples which seems to be processed the same way and they show nearly same values when read out by BQ Software. But these samples have ~40% RSOC and same condition (Cell and  Pack voltage, Chemistry)

What can cause this difference in behaviour ? Reference Manual SLUU485a states that initial RSOC / RM is calculated by OCV, chemistry, DOD at EDV2 and QMAX Pack. All of these parameters seem to be identical at our samples.

Thanks very much

Martin
