Tool/software:
Dear TI, We are both in production or V1 and in development of V2 of our Battery Management system.
We use the BQ76952 and BQ34Z100.
The issue we are having is the reliability of the EV2400.
With our production run of our V1 BMS we have only produced around 500 units.
During this we have purchased 6 EV2400 units and now only 1 still works.
Whereas with the the development team for BMS v2 we have 2 EV2400s and only one is working now.
All in total we have 6 out of 8 EV2400s that have stopped working. This is now causing production and development disruption.
The issues vary between no LEDs and the EV2400 just not detected on the PC.
I understand that the EV2400 is for evaluation purposes, not for production. There is no ESD or any other protections within the unit. I am convinced, despite implementing the usual ESD processes this is an ESD issue.
What is the suggestion from TI for production using there BQ series of ICs?
The obvious answer is design our own equivalent PCB. If this is the case, we don't have the ability to upload the firmware. As for the PCB design we can handle as the electronics side is well understood.
So I guess the questions are: -
Is there a commercially available option already?
Will TI help with firmware / bootloader, assuming we the same MCU?
What is the usual industry approach to production?
