Hello team, 

Is there any requirement for a host to read/write to the BQ40Z50 every second (or some other period of time) or can it just sit there and we send reads/writes at any time.

    Hello Austin,

    You should be able to write and read from the gauge at any time. It is possible that the gauge will enter into sleep mode if it does not see communication for a long time (as well as other conditions that are outlines in 5.3.1 of the TRM). However, when the gauge receive communication it will exit from sleep mode.
