TPS650864: Regarding TPS650864 Buck4,3,5,6 Inductor

Part Number: TPS650864

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

We are using TPS6508641RSKT for powering  FPGA - XCZU3CG. For Buck3, Buck4, and Buck5, the recommended inductor value is 470nH/1.8A, but I have used 470nH/4.8A in my design. Additionally, for Buck6, the recommended value is 1µH/1.8A, but mistakenly used 470nH/4.8A. Is there any concern regarding the inductor values and current ratings, as we have already released the Gerber files for fabrication.

Thanks,

Gayathri.

  • Hi Gayathri,

The higher current ratings for the inductors are  ok.

For Buck 6, you may see lower efficiency and higher current ripple when using the lower inductance.
Generally, we do not approve of straying from the recommended values since this has not been tested.

The 1uH value would be recommended for optimal efficiency and stability, if you are able to swap this. Otherwise, you may expect to see poorer efficiency.

    Best Regards,
    Sarah
