We are planning to use TPS62874 - 15A buck for one of our applications.

Could you clarify more about droop compensation. My understanding is when the droop is enabled during high current the supply voltage reduces to -12mV. For ex. if the current is 50A and voltage 0.8V initially when the high current is drawn the voltage reduces to 0.788 so the power reduced to 39.4W from 40W. so a savings of 0.6W.

Is my understanding right?

Thanks for reaching out to us.

The output voltage swings from +12mV to -12mV from the nominal level over the entire load range (0A to FL). And at 50% load, the output voltage is at the nominal value. See figure below for details.

You are correct. The SoC power dissipation reduces due to the lower supply voltage at higher load condition which makes it a bit cooler.

Thanks for the quick reply. So as in the above example we are saving ~0.6W. For what level of power do you recommend using this.

Also does this buck is suitable for TDA4VH series of SoC?

Hi Ratheesh,

You are correct. A ~0.6W power saving is possible if you choose to enable the droop compensation function of this device.

TPS6287x-Q1 is the recommended power solution for CPU and Core rails of TDA4VH. I will send you a message to discuss your application privately.
