BQ40Z50-R2: Wake Tactile Switch - Sleep Mode - Customer Access to Wake Button?

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am trying to determine whether it is necessary to include the wake tactile switch as a button that is accessible by the customer to wake the battery assembly in the event the BMS goes to sleep. When the BA goes into sleep mode and the wake button is activated, will all of the original settings in the BMS configuration remain the same? Is it a good strategy to have the wake tactile switch accessible by the customer or should this only be reserved for the manufacturer and therefore remain internal to the battery assembly enclosure?

Any feedback you can provide would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Joe DeWitt

  • Hi Joe,

Typically, if the DA Configuration register depicting the amount of cells in use is set correctly, there is no need for a wake button. We include the wake button on our EVMs to keep the device awake for long enough for the user to change this register value. If the device falls asleep, then the original settings will stay the same upon wake up.

    Regards,

    Anthony

  • Sounds very good, I'll remove the wake button for the battery assembly production model.

    I appreciate the feedback Anthony.

    Best regards,
