TPS54560B-Q1: TPS54560BQDDAQ1 TJ Operating Range

Part Number: TPS54560B-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54560B

Tool/software:

Hi,

TPS54560B-Q1's datasheet, page 1 and page 4 both show "–40°C to 150°C TJ Operating Range"

while page 40 show it Op Temp (°C)  is –40°C to 125°C

Please help confirm what is right for the TJ Operating Range.

Thanks

  • Hello Phil

Operating junction temperature range for the device is –40°C to 150°C as mentioned on page 1 and 4. The range mentioned on page 40 is ambient temperature range. Although, for more accurate estimation of Ta for the device I would recommend you follow 8.2.2.13 Power Dissipation Estimate calculation procedure. I would recommend you go through Semiconductor and IC Package Thermal Metrics (Rev. D) (ti.com) and Qualifier TJ = TA Defined (ti.com) for more details.

    I hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any further query

    Thank you

    Regards

    Onkar

  • Thanks Onkar.

But from the TPS54560B(none auto part) datasheet, it also showed –40°C to 150°C , we do not know it is based on TJ or TA. This device also showed –40°C to 150°C in Page 1,page 4.

it is a bit confused due to TPS54560B-Q1 is auto grade.

    Thanks

  • Hi Phil

Operating junction temperature range or both auto and non-auto part can be same. But looking at datasheet package information section, non-auto part has higher operating temperature range (150°C) while auto part has (125°C). Let me check about this internally. But I believe it could be typing error. Ambiant temperature range for both the part is –40°C to 125°C. Nevertheless, use calculation procedure shown in 8.2.2.13 Power Dissipation Estimate to get better picture.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if any further query

    Thank you
