LM5122: Regarding use of LM5122 switching controller in a non-synchronous boost converter application

Part Number: LM5122

Tool/software:

Hello,

I intend to use LM5122 for a non-synchronous 2-Phase Interleaved DC-DC boost converter application. My first question is whether this controller can even be used in a non-synchronous application?
If so, what changes will be required?
I see that PIN 18 (SW) connects to the switching node. Since I am operating a non-synchronous converter, can this be PIN be left unconnected?

Thank you,

Waqar

  • Hello Waqar,

Thanks for reaching out to us via e2e.

For asynchronous operation of the LM5122, please connect the SW pin to GND, connect BST to VCC and leave HO open, as seen in the SEPIC example in the datasheet (Figure 37).

    Best regards
    Harry
