TPS25983: Issue with TPS25983 E-Fuse Powering High Current Load

Part Number: TPS25983

Tool/software:

Hi there,

I am writing to seek assistance regarding an issue I have encountered with the TPS25983 e-fuse IC, which I am using for under-voltage (UV), over-voltage (OV), and current limiting protection.

In my application, I am using the following configuration:

  • Input Voltage (VIN): 24V
  • Under-Voltage (UV) Threshold: 18V
  • Over-Voltage (OV) Threshold: 25.6V
  • Load: 7Ω resistive
  • Rimon: 511Ω
  • Rilimit: 110Ω , Ilimit as 12.5A.
  • Cdvdt: 10nF
  • ITimer : 4700pF

The e-fuse works as expected without a load connected. However, when I apply the 7Ω load, which requires higher current, the e-fuse immediately shuts down the output. I have followed the guidelines for setting the current limit and dv/dt control values as per the datasheet, but it seems the load is not getting the demanded power as soon as I turn on the system.

Tried to go below the UV and and come back to 24V at input side incase if we have Latch off, but didnt work that way as well.

Could you please provide guidance on how I can resolve this issue? Specifically, I would like to understand if there are any additional parameters or configuration adjustments required to ensure the e-fuse can handle the high inrush current or manage the load demand effectively.

Thank you for your assistance, and I look forward to your suggestions.
