UCC5320: IN- datasheet info issue with gatedriver

Tool/software:

In the datasheet, it says that IN- is connected to ground for a typical application, can I connect a pulse to IN- instead of IN+? Will that work, do I need a pullup resistor because the datasheet does not give any information about any erratic behaviour.

Yes Yousef,

You can short IN+ to VCCI, and send a square wave to IN-. This will result in a high output when IN- is low, and a low output when IN- is high. We call this inverting configuration.

You could add a pull-up resistor to IN- to make sure the output will be low if the input signal is high-Z.

Thank you so if I want a high signal on the output, I should not connect the pull up resistor when the input is low.

Hi Yousef,

The low input will dominate as long as it can supply a few uA, so you can leave the pull-up resistor connected. The pull-up resistor only will control the IN- voltage if the input is high-Z (open), not if the input is 0V and low resistance, or 5V and low resistance.
