Are TPS65070 "Switch" pins output pins?

I would like to ask a question on TPS65070.

I am not familiar with TPS65070 terminology. However, I noticed that in the application circuits shown in SLVS950C, TPS6507X - Single Chip Power Solution for Battery Powered Systems (Rev. C), the output voltage are coming out of L1, L2, L3 and L4, which are all described as "Switch Pin" in "Pin Functions", rather than ordinarily "output pins".

 

 

It seems to me very likely that TPS65070 is a switched-mode regulator. However, I didn't find an affirmative description in TPS65070, most likely due to my lack of knowledge in this field. I have two questions here:

1.    Is TPS65070 a switched-mode regulator? Where can I find this information in SLVS950C?

2.    For switched-mode regulator, is "Switch Pin" a synonym for "Voltage converter output"?

    The TPS65070 has 3 buck converters and one boost converter (switch-mode regulators) in addition to two LDOs and multiple other features. This information is available in the Features section of the first page of the datasheet, SLVS950.

    The pins L1-L3 are internally connected to the switch nodes of the buck converters. This is not the same as VOUT; an output filter must connected to the switch pins.

    L4 is also a switch pin, but for a boost (step-up) converter instead of a buck (step-down) converter. This is an input from the inductor. You can familiarize yourself with the boost converter topology through the following application note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva061/slva061.pdf

     

    The switch pin can also be called PH (as in phase node) or SWITCH.
