UCC27712-Q1: Charge pump using UCC27712-Q1 and also to driver the Mosfets in the BMS

Part Number: UCC27712-Q1

Tool/software:

Dear support,

We have used 2 Nos UCC27712-Q1 devices' as attached schematics.

Here we have made a charge pump using  UCC27712-Q1. A boost voltage from the charge pump is being used to drive mosfets (4+4) with another UCC27712-Q1 device.

To driver Mosfet on the BMS board we have to switch ON the Mosfet once no switching required. So we have used 5V DC continuous source for this purpose.

Charge pump circuit individually is working fine but when we have added  BMS mosfet driving circuit on top it is not working.

NO switching On place on BMS circuit. NO gate source voltage developed.

Can you please suggest some improvement here to make the complete circuit functional.

thanks and regards

  • Hello Subhash,

It is not quite clear on the connections of the circuit and operation, but I have some comments to point out regarding the driver operation.

It sounds like when you want to turn on the driver for the Mosfet (not the charge pump) that you supply 5V DC to the driver high side input. One detail about the 600V driver high side is that the level shifter is an edge triggered level shifter. What this means is that on the HI rising edge there is a pulse transmitted for turn on and on the falling edge there is a pulse transmitted for turn off. For the turn on pulse to be recognized and turn on HO the HB-HS bias has to be above the UVLO threshold at the time of the HI rising edge. If the HB to HS is not above UVLO at that time the HO will not turn on even though the HI is high. It would turn on during the next HI rising edge.

Can you confirm if this might be the issue? Confirm that HB-HS is high before the HI input goes high.

    Regards,
