TPS7H1101A-SP: Response time under fault condition

Part Number: TPS7H1101A-SP

Tool/software:

A question has been posed by a colleague... and I can find no immediate information from the datasheet, or elsewhere.
so here goes.:

"How fast the does the component respond to an output fault condition, specifically a permanent dead short, and/or a brief over current situation (150% load)?

LDO will be set up for either a 3.0A or a 1.5A maximum output.  Resistors (RPCL &RCS) have been chosen accordingly.

Two actions are anticipated, the timing reaction of these events are in question.

1) FOLDBACK ACTION
2) POWER GOOD drops

Building it may be the final answer.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Kevin,

If it is useful, I can look into setting up a test on the EVM board this week to give a few sample scopes of the behaviors. Ultimately, it it will be a good idea for you to test your final hardware as well since factors external to the IC such as output caps and load slew rate can influence the result.

    Thanks,

    Sarah
