BQ76907: Is there a way to make the BQ76907 an active cell balancer?

Part Number: BQ76907

Tool/software:

Hello.

I think the BQ76907 is a passive cell balancer, but is there a way or example to change it to an active cell balancer?
The batteries I plan to use are two LiFePO4 (12.8V) 20000mA batteries in series.

It would be best if I could do it externally like the one below.

  • Hello,

We do not have any circuit design to convert the passive cell balancing of the BQ76907 to active cell balancing. However, I have seen some customers attempt to use passive cell balancing with some isolated circuitry to serve as a signal to start a discrete active cell balancing circuit. I do not know what were the results in those attempts.
